Pictures of my 106
On another note, i saw a set of 306 GTi-6 Cyclones go on eBay for £80!... EIGHTY POUNDS! Seeing as they usually go for well over £200. I would of bidded on them, but im off on holiday next month with "H", and money needs to be saved! Ho hum, im sure there will be another set soon... i hope!

GUIDE: Fitting a gear knob & gaiter
First off, it all depends on what sort of set-up you already have in your car. My car had a standard gear knob which was attached to a rubber gaiter. This looked poor and frankly, i dont know why it took me so long to replace it seeing as i had a Momo gearknob for over a year. But if you have a rubber gaiter like mine, you will need a new gaiter (leather's nice!) and a gaiter surround to affix to the centre console. This will hold your gaiter in place. These items can be bought from eBay for about £20 for the lot.
The tool's you will need are:
1 x torx screw driver (6-star head)
1 x allen key (supplied with the gear knob)
1 x philips screw driver
1 x stanley knife or other sharp implement.

Let's get started!
1) First thing you'll need to do is to remove the existing gear knob. Many people have trouble with this, trying to remove it using brute force, and some even resorting to cutting it off using a hacksaw.

2) Next up, grab your new gaiter and place it over the gear shaft. Now once you have it in place, grab your gaiter surround. Slide that over the gaiter and line up the holes in the bottom of the gaiter with the holes in the surround. It may help to screw in the gaiter surround screws half way so you can hook the gaiter over the screws to save messing about trying to line up the screws with the holes.

3) Screw the screws down into the centre console going through the gaiter & the gear surround. Once all the screws are done you can move onto the knob.

4)Depending on what gear knob you've purchased depends on how you affix it to your gear knob. My gear knob was a chrome ball shaped momo item. The bottom screws off to reveal 3 grub screw holes. unscrew the bottom of the knob and place this over the shaft.

5) My Momo knob came with 5 rubber grips which slip over the top of the gear shaft. Grab the one that fits tightly.

6) Now place the gear knob over the shaft. Line it up properly (it's the little things that count!) and when it's all lined up, grab your allen key and screw in the 3 small grub screws. This will hold the gear knob in place.

7) Now grab the bottom of the gear knob, and screw it back onto the actual gear knob.

8) Lastly, just to tidy things up, due to the cheap materials, there was a small bit of left-over leather which protruded from under-neath the gear surround. Grab a sharp implement like a stanley knife and cut any excess leather. This will give a clean finish.

It should all be done now. Sit back & enjoy. Give yourself a pat on the back as the job's a good'un!

Conclusion:
Well im glad i finally done this mod, it makes the interior feel a bit better. I may purchase another gaiter at a later date, as im not entirely happy with the one i got. that's cheap eBay stuff for you. It'll also help if i had removed the centre console as it can be a bit tight for space.
But overall, an easy mod, took me about an hour to do!
Note: This is the way i carried out this mod. It may be different for you. i will not be held responsible if there is a problem or any damage caused to your vehicle if you follow this guide. You carry out anywork at your own risk!

And one other thing...
Q
ho ho, im back!
Since leaving blogspot, i re-designed my site using different back-end software which made my life a bit easier. I also learnt a fair bit about CSS which kinda put me off blogspot as all their blogs are controlled by CSS, and i wanted to make my site look like how i wanted it to look.
Im still in 2 minds whether to stay at blogspot, or move on and get another server for myself and host this site properly.. But obviously, i will try to keep the down time minimal!
Aaaanyway, My Pug... is due a service lol! It seems to be running slightly rough at the moment which is never a good thing but it seems alright for the moment, but i will be changing the oil and stuff pretty soon me-thinks!
Also, I've purchased a gear gaiter & surround so i can finally get round to adding my Momo gearknob which "H" got me for my birthday IN 2004 lol!... I shall hopefully be fitting that tomorrow, and im looking forward to doing that, and ill be taking pictures as i go!
Other purchases include some smoked side indicators, which, once i work out the wiring, i shall be fitting those too!...
Right, best get back to work! More updates soon!

Goodies for me
W000!... sorry, well, my goodies have turned up! Although, trusty ol eBay has come up trumps again lol!... the smoked indicator lens dont look that smoked (but better than what's there now!) and the Gear gaiter will probably require a brain surgeon to fit! Oh dear :(
Smoked Indicator lens will probably look good though, well im hoping anywho! It looks like i have to do a bit of re-wiring as the connections on the pug dont match the wiring on the indicators, but it's only 2 wires... It can't be that hard... Can it? (Remember your speaking to the person who set fire to the microwave trying to cook some supernoodles!)
The gear gaiter is going to be the difficult bit. It's just a sheet of leather sewn together. I can fit it without a hitch,it's just trying to work out how to attach it to the centre console. The gaiter comes with a tapered end, with a hole punched out every inch or so around the wide end. Does this mean i need to purchase a gear surround so i can screw that down, and screw it through the gaiter to hold it down!?... i was ideally looking for a smooth finish, so not overly enthusiastic about leaving screw's on show.
I could always take Infamous Aidy's (from the PGAC) advice, and pop down the local scrappy, and pick up a gaiter from an escort or something. oooh, whilst i'm down there, i could always pick up some 106 headrest's and attach them in the back to add a bit more luxury for my passangers... *dials local scrappies*. Just phoned the local scrappy, they'll have a 106 coming in next week-ish, and he said that headrest's are not something he tends to keep hold of, so it looks like i may get it cheap too!... So let's hope so! *crosses fingers*
Also, last night, i was waiting for my girlfriend @ the bus stop. Whilst waiting, i thought i'd flick through the Haynes manual to see how i'd go about changing the indicators. I started reading about the weekly checks you should carry out on the 106. I then decided that i am going to keep the car in better working condition. The timing belt needs to be done soon. I've had the car for around 30,000, and the Haynes manual reckons they should be done every 36,000 miles. It hasn't been done since i owned the car, and it makes me wonder whether the previous owner had it done, and if it hasn't been done, is my 106 a ticking time bomb!... EEEK! But i will work out a rotor of some sort, and make it nice and easy to read. Looking through the Haynes manual, there was an awful lot of stuff that needs to be done at different times! Oil every 6000 miles, spark plugs every 12000, timing belt every 36000, coolent every 12000. It could all get very confusing! But i will post it up here as a *guide* once it's all sorted so other 106'ers can use it =)
Other than that, im still on the look out for some alloys. Originally after a set of 306 GTi-6 Cyclone alloys, they seem rather pricy. Then found out about the Saxo VTS alloys, but they too are pricy. Generally going for around £300+ on ebay! Not what i want to pay! But i have seen some other Standard Peugeot alloys off different pug models which have caught my eye. One style generally goes for about £100, and the other set seems to be alot rarer and have yet to see some on eBay! :(
Im after some 15's. Im aware that i will need to cut the rear arches. Which is a git, but ho-hum, life goes on, and if the arches need to be cut, they need to be cut. On top of that, i'll need some arches. Generally looking at the Rallye arches or XSi arches. Which will then require new front & rear bumpers so they match up with the arches lol!... this could get very expensive just for some 15" alloys!
Fingers crossed though :)
